Biography
Colt is a PhD candidate from Austin, Texas. At Emory & Henry College, he spent three years researching the Norwegian Black Metal music scene to understand radical and far-right ideologies in Norway. His master's thesis at the University of Illinois focused on people as infrastructure politics in Austin’s highly commodified live music scene, revealing how long-time Austin residents collaborated to resist urban change. Currently, his dissertation is interested in understanding the relationship between sound and growth, exploring how cities use sound and soundscapes as a political resource to induce urban development and gentrification. Dr. David Wilson is his advisor.

Colt is currently interested in urban politics and theory, infrastructure, redevelopment/gentrification, phenomenology, and sonic geographies.
